Call for Abstract Papers to HERGA15

The aim of the HERGA Conference series is to bring together colleagues from the higher education sector to discuss best practice and new approaches to teaching in the tertiary environment.

We invite academics to submit conference papers that align with the conference theme: 

"Brave New World: The Future of Teaching and Learning" or with any of the following sub-theme ideas:
  • Alternate pathways to University
  • Assessment (-e-portfolios, badges)
  • Learning Analytics & Gamification
  • The Role of MOOCs in Brave New World
  • Educational Leadership in the Brave New World
  • Peer and self-assisted teaching and learning
  • Building the independent learner

Please SUBMIT a 1-page abstract with references by the 31st of July to EasyChair: HERE.

Conference activities will run over three days and includes a writing workshop, the main conference day and a full workshop day.

Our amazing keynote speakers are Associate Professor Angela Carbone and Emeritus Professor Geoff Scott who bring a wide range of experience to the conference.

Open Seminar:  "Programmatic #Assessment for #Learning" with Dr Sylvia Heeneman

Dr Sylvia Heeneman from Maastricht University has extensive expertise and experience in the implementation of Programmatic Assessment for Learning and so will provide valuable insights into current assessment initiatives within Flinders’ medical program.

Dr Sylvia Heeneman is the program director of the graduate-entry program Physician-Clinical Investigator (P-CI) at Maastricht University in the Netherlands where she was integral to the development and implementation of a programmatic assessment approach and a competency-based portfolio (e-portfolio) which serves as the single assessment instrument. She is closely involved in the organisation of the mentoring system, the e-portfolio and (portfolio) assessment procedures. Her educational research activities are focused on (programmatic) assessment, mentoring and the use of portfolios.

This year the conference theme is "Brave New World: The Future of Teaching and Learning". What do you imagine to be the future of higher education? What research and pedagogies are cutting-edge? We hope to explore these questions and more at our annual conference in the beautiful Adelaide.
