http://www.herga.com.au/herga-14.html After the very successful sessions from John Traxler on mobile learning, HERGA is wrapping up July with a presentation from Associate Professor Theda Thomas from ACU. She will be discussing ideas on how to engage first year students in their discipline. This is work based on her successful OLT application "In the Beginning: Renewing the First Year Curriculum for Social Sciences and Humanities in the context of discipline threshold standards" and looks to be very interesting.
This workshop will allow participants to think about the learning of first year students in their particular discipline. It will provide lecturers with ideas for engaging with first year pedagogy and ask you to consider what we want our students to know by the time they graduate and what skills need to be developed. Please come along and hear her discuss her work on the 17th July in the Board Room, Level 2, Adelaide College of the Arts, Light Square, Adelaide. See the attachment for further details. You can register for the seminar at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/theda_thomas ~~~ HERGA Seminar Group We have had a number of requests to extend the submission dates for papers to this years conference (http://www.herga.com.au/conference.html) particularly due to clashes with marking at this time of the year.
We are happy to announce an extension to the 27th of July for papers, workshops, posters and panel discussion submissions. As this date will put pressure on our reviewers, we ask that if you do intend to submit, you indicate this by going to https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/herga_2014_intent and leaving your details. This will allow us to have the required number of reviewers ready to do their work from the due date. We hope this extension will prove helpful to you, and wish you all the best with your marking :-) Kind Regards HERGA Conference Group |
