5/25/2014

"Adaptive e-Learning: Pathway for feedback and feed forward"

This seminar is very topical and looks at the role of eLearning and feedback. Our speaker is Professor Gangadhara Prusty from UNSW and whilst the topic is related to Engineering concepts the ideas behind the content will be relevant for everyone.

Associate Professor Gangadhara Prusty from the UNSW School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering has received $250,000 from the OLT for a project to develop a virtual workshop for engineering and design students. In 2012, he won a national award for teaching excellence for his contribution to the development of online tutorials that adapt to the abilities of individual students and provide intelligent feedback to help them learn more effectively. He is well credentialed to engage us all in this topic on June 6.

Presentation: Have we been getting feedback to students wrong?

10/15/2013

"From conventional practice to strategies that make a difference"

Presentation by Emeritus Professor David Boud brought to you by HERDSA

The presentation/discussion will suggest that many of the common ways we define and use feedback in higher education do not lead to improvements in students’ learning, and are not likely to do so. It will consider the key features of feedback and explore alternative ways of thinking about and using it that are more likely to make a difference without increased expenditure of time by teachers.
